Levels of language learning and study time
To understand your language level, you can read information about language skills at different language levels.
I understand some familiar words and very simple phrases in slow and clearly audible language in everyday communication situations when they talk about me, my family, and people around me.
I understand the familiar names, words, and very simple suggestions in ads, posters, or directories.
I can participate in the dialogue if my interlocutor repeats my request at a slow pace or paraphrases it, and helps me to formulate what I am trying to say. I can ask simple questions and answer them within the topics I know.
I can use simple phrases and sentences to tell where I live and the people I know.
I can write simple greeting cards (for example, holiday greetings), fill in forms, enter my name, nationality, address in the registration form at the hotel.
Learning time at one language level depends, of course, on the number of lessons and the individual perception of the student. In this regard, you can advise your teacher on a free lesson and determine your language level.
I understand individual phrases in the most commonly used words, in utterances that relate to topics that are important to me (for example, basic information about myself and my family, shopping, where I live, and work). I understand what we are talking about in simple, clearly pronounced and small in volume messages and announcements.
I understand very short simple texts. I can find specific, easily predictable information in the simple texts of everyday communication: in advertisements, prospectuses, menus, schedules. I understand simple letters of a personal nature.
I can communicate in simple typical situations that require the direct exchange of information within the topics and activities that I am familiar with. I can support a very short conversation on domestic topics, but I still do not understand enough to talk on my own.
I can use simple phrases and sentences to tell about my family and other people, living conditions, study, real or former job.
I can write simple short letters and messages. I can write a simple personal letter (for example, express my gratitude to someone)
I understand the main points of clearly stated statements within the literary norm on the topics that I have to deal with at work, at school, on vacation, and so on. I understand what most radio and television programs are about current events, as well as broadcasts related to my personal or professional interests. I understand texts based on the frequency linguistic material of everyday and professional communication. I understand the description of events, feelings, intentions in letters of a personal nature.

Without training, I can freely participate in dialogues with native speakers. I am able to actively participate in the discussion on a problem that is familiar to me, to justify and defend my point of view.
I can speak clearly and in detail about a wide range of issues that interest me. I can explain my point of view on the current issue by giving all the pros and cons.
I can write comprehensible detailed messages on a wide range of issues that interest me. I can write an essay or a report, covering questions or arguing for and against. I can write letters, highlighting those events and impressions that are particularly important to me.
I understand deployed messages even if they have a fuzzy logical structure and semantic connections are not explicit. I understand almost all TV shows and movies.
I understand the big complex non-artistic and artistic texts, their stylistic features. I also understand the special articles and technical instructions of a large volume, even if they do not relate to my field of activity.
I am able to express my thoughts spontaneously and quickly without difficulty in selecting words. My language differs in the variety of linguistic means and the accuracy of their use in situations of professional or everyday communication. I can formulate my thoughts and express my thoughts accurately, as well as actively support any conversation.
